Blog #1 -- Thomas Quintus

What type of consequence can one face from writing incorrectly if that is the way they chose to put the words down on paper? Is there no faith left in artistic freedom? This class is a perfect example of this topic. We are presently writing blogs. Blogs have a reputation for being a casual medium where you can be free to make mistakes and write what you want. Since blogs are now taking more of a pivotal role in today's professional world, one can only imagine the future of correct grammar.
I personally like to write how I speak, incorrectly. However, a writer does need to know where to draw the line on his or her colloquialism. If you were to email a professor regarding a grade, you would be much less likely to start the message with the phrase "Yo Teach". On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you have more of a lax relationship with that teacher you might be more willing to approach them in that manner. Much of the correctness is based on knowing your audience.

How well do you know your audience when you are blogging? Are you targeting someone, or do you feel like it is unknown because it is so open for anyone? Do you think the way you write will draw in a specific type of reader?
